The Rabbits
In 2013 I visited the Peabody Essex Museum in Salem, MA to view a collection of Fabergé treasures. There I fell in love, not with the eggs (which are cool but a little too Rococo for me), not the ruby-encrusted brooches, enamel clocks, or gold cigarette cases, but with the hardstone animals. (See my blogpost on the House of Fabergé to find out more). Combing the online auction catalogs for more Fabergé animals, I found rabbit head walking sticks, rabbit shaped bell pushes, rabbit shaped paperweights. These rabbits are inspired by my encounters, virtually and in person, with the House of Fabergé.
